When you experience difficulty in childhood, you have two options. You can force those painful memories down, or you can choose to use your experiences and all that you overcame and learned to help others. Tayrin chose to look for the light and shine it in the lives of any warriors that needed a little guidance in sharing their story and healing. Tayrin shares her story...
. . . . . . . . . .
My motivation first came from high above (my faith) in telling my truth to the world via a newsletter through a different organization based out of Los Angeles. Second, it came from my inner child. The child that needed a hero during her child and teenage years and had to become her own. Third, my continuous motivation comes from all of those who are survivors and need me to be their voice because sometimes they don’t feel they have one. Dear Tayrin will be celebrating 5 years of existence in May of this year. YEY!!!!!!!! It started off with a blog and spiraled into an organization with many supporters within the Western New York community and abroad, even internationally.
Currently we provide support groups to the Western New York community via gatherings or workshops, panel discussion events, annual awareness events and online presence and support. I have learned that healing has come forth through each event I have either hosted or been a part of. I have also learned what it means to truly be empathetic, loving, genuine and compassionate on this journey. And mostly that EVERYONE has a story.
I believe that all of the individuals I have met along the way, have in some way shape or form inspired me or motivated me to continue with this journey. They have all shown me, that we are not alone; that we are all in this together. When we stand together in unity, we stand strong, confident and become warriors in a battle needing attention.
Sometimes, I wonder if I am doing any good or helping anyone. But then, I will get a random text, email or social media post from someone that is saying thank you or someone sharing their story for the first time publicly or someone just finally healing from their own ugly truth. And that’s when I see that in some way shape or form, Dear Tayrin is making a difference. My vision is to be a safe space for individuals who have been victimized by sexual violence and provide them a first step towards internal healing by creating support groups and workshops within the Western New York community and abroad.
. . . . . . . . . .
I am so inspired and touched by all that Tayrin is doing. She is such a brave warrior that is using her life circumstances and lessons learned to help other victims face their past and heal. It takes a very special person to be able to do this! Thank you Tayrin for the many beautiful people you are helping and for being a Personal Hero!
