Grateful for Friends...From Amanda
2 years ago I had this crazy idea to try and make more mommy friends. I had joined some of the local mommy groups on FB and tried to interact a bit, but usually fell flat because...well, I'm just not that girl.
However, one day, there was a post from someone moving to the area from NJ. She had a daughter similar to my sons age and for some reason my mind said "OMG remember how horrible it was to move here and not know A SOUL? Message her ASAP!" And then my mind said "are you crazy she will surely think you're either a loser or a murderer"
It took me a day or so to sort it out but I eventually did message her-somewhere along the lines of "I swear I don't normally do this and I swear I'm not a serial killer but if you wanna hang out sometime or something let me know..." 😳 Super smooth.
Some time went by and she did move to the area and we set up a little play date to walk around the lake-again, thinking I was a serial killer, I'm sure, but hey. 💁🏻 That day began such an important friendship not only for me, but for my son as well👫👯. Sophie and Deanna have been our HOCO besties, our playground partners, our dinner dates, our movie buddies, our pool peeps, our "come on over for a drink my house is a mess and the child is driving me insane" friend, and all around our PEOPLE.
I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I sent that message but I'm so glad I did, and I'm so glad she gave me a shot.
Today was the last play date for Sophie and Knox. Deanna and I will have a special date of our own next week, but I know this is not really goodbye.
Sometimes people are meant to be in your life, and you just feel it in your bones. Thank you for loving us Deanna and for making the last 2 years special! 💖💖 (and yes my sons fly is down as always 🙈👌🏻)
